Thelma James Day, Ed.D. is a community college academic dean at Los Angeles City College.  She has worked for several community college districts, including Pasadena and Santa Monica Community Colleges.  Additionally, she has held positions that include Goldman Sacs 10,000 Small Business Faculty recruiter, Business Administration Division Chair, Los Angeles Community College District Technology Trainer and SIS Project Manager.   She has particular expertise in curriculum development, institutional research, grant writing, project management, leadership development, fund development, strategic planning, budgeting and program assessment. She is a graduate of Jackson University, School of Business and Economics, where she earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Business Education.   She received her Ed.D. with an emphasis in Institutional Management from the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University.  Dr. Day is a member of and has held offices in several notable non-profit boards The Delta Research and Educational Foundation, The Lullaby Guild Foundation and the Water Education International Foundation.
